Nancy Schaffer was my cousin by marriage of my Father, Leo C. Duersten to Nancy Munch. Ellen Munch Schaffer was my step-mother, Nancy's sister. Nancy Schaffer and I used to walk home from Park almost every day during High School. I usually stopped at her house and we watched tv and had snacks. The Schaffer home was absolutely beautiful, with a central entry foyer, flanked by two symmetrical rooms. One was a formal parlor, and the other was a music room with grand piano. I often played the piano while Nancy rustled up some munchies. There was a den off the parlor where we would watch tv and talk for hours. Nancy was easy to be with, funny and warm-hearted, as well as being a beautiful blond. I had some of my fondest HS memories hanging out with Nancy after school. Our paths diverged when I went away to college. We didn't stay in touch, and I'm extremely sad to discover she has passed on at a relatively young age. I will never forget Nancy.
Leora, it was nice to read your comments and memories about Nancy. I hung around with her mostly in elementary school and would play at her house on 15th and Wisconsin. She lost her nice father at a young age and sadly I lost touch with her after high school. Francie
