George Lerette

George Lerette

George Erling LeRette, age 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2025, after a long-standing battle with cancer. He was born on December 26, 1946, in Kenosha, to the late Don LeRette and NellieMae Siverly. George was united in marriage to June Marie (nee Haack) LeRette on December 2, 1972, in Racine. His beloved wife preceded him in death on July 1, 2024, at the age of 76.

George dedicated over 20 years to working as a supervisor at Motor Specialty and later spent more than a decade as a porter at CarMax. Throughout his life, George was a devoted husband and father, but his greatest devotion was to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As an active member of Harbor Rock Tabernacle (formerly Fellowship Baptist) since childhood, George faithfully served the church as an usher, greeter, and prayer warrior. His nightly prayer list was extensive, and he was known to pray for everyone he knew, always lifting others up with love and compassion.

Known for his jovial spirit, George's humor and humility endeared him to all who knew him. He had a generous heart, always giving himself and his time to others. A lover of sports, George was a loyal fan of the Packers, Brewers, Bucks, and Badgers. He cherished his time spent with his siblings at the monthly Brothers' Breakfast, where his warmth and charisma shone through. George's love for others was evident in everything he did.

He is deeply missed by his sons, Mark and Scott LeRette; his siblings, Tom (Jane) LeRette, Janet (Gary) Gossett, Dennis (Sue), Chuck, and Jim (Mary) Besler; his grandson, Daniel LeRette; his special friend and brother in Christ, Curt (Deneen) Czosnek; and many cherished friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Charles Besler; and his sister-in-law, June Besler.

A service to honor George's life will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at Harbor Rock Tabernacle, with Pastor Paul Rhoads officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church from 9:30 a.m., until the time of service. A luncheon will follow, and committal services will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Harbor Rock Tabernacle missionary program in George's honor. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Ascension All Saints Hospital Cancer Center, Compassus Hospice, and to the church family and friends who lovingly cared for George in his final days.

George will be deeply missed, but his legacy of faith, love, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

I did not know Geirge well, but he was an amiable, familiar presence during our years at Mitchell Junior High and Park High.He had a mischievous smile and a humorous manner. One memory of George particulrly stands out.
The instructor of our jewelry-making class at Mitchell, the  talented and likeable Mr. Helminiak, was in awe of George's talents and would frequently make statements in class like "Lerette,, you have a world of ability!" "Lerette, if you put that God-given talent of yours to work, you will go far!" He was referring not only to George's handiwork but to the quality of his classroom comments. This went on througout the quarter.
George was indeed bright, but was generally a low-profile student, so I was glad to see him get some attention and recognition. However, Mr Helminiak never raved about any of the rest of us, making us all feel that we were commonfolk destined to lead pedestrain lives.
In reading George's obituary, it's clear that he did go far by his own lights, making valuable contributions in the areas of life important to him. I am sorry for all who are missing my old classmate and send them my heartfelt condolences.
