RACINE - William Albert Gold was born April 25th, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois to Albert and Genevieve Gold. He was married December 21st, 1989 in Racine, WI to his wife Fran. Willy passed away on July 12th, 2016 at Froedtert Hospital. Willy lived a long life of determination and fulfillment. He was a rough man; stern and forthcoming in nature but had a heart full of love for his children and grandchildren. His youth was spent raising, teaching, and keeping his family together, through all that life entailed. A personality like his is passed down, leaving remnants of his soul within those whom he loved. His later years spent being an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Milwaukee Brewers, getting spooked at haunted houses, riding the American Eagle at Six flags, and ultimately sharing his life with grandchildren. He worked as a Union Bricklayer for 50 years with Local #4 with time in between passed with good drinks and better friends. Sundays were his predictable day drinking coffee in the morning with son Joe. Much time was also spent driving around town and being with special friends. Towards the end of his life, time eluded all of us including him. It was a guessing game of how strong he really was. In the end he was too strong for time thus he escaped it and his name lives on in the legend that is Willy. It is easier to believe that it may be possible that he left and now wanders, not lost, but free. Free from the restraints that are life and sickness, roaming the beautiful places we all long to see at peace. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 26 years, Fran; his children Joseph (Christine), Gina (Jason), Andrew (Christie), Paul (Lori); his 7 granddaughters whom he loved dearly Marly, Emerly, Jenkins, Hampton, Joelle, Gracie and Daniella; mother-in-law Emma Steinhoff; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Raymond (Karen) Billips and Connie Steinhoff; His best friend Ron Winsall; nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother. Private services were held Thursday July 14th, 2016 at the Jewish Memorial Cemetery in Racine with Rabbi Martyn Adelberg officiating. Memorials in Willy's name can be made to Beth Israel Sinai Congregation 944 Main Street, Racine, WI 53403 or to a charity of your choice. We like to thank the staff at Froedtert Hospital and Horizon Hospice for their kind and compassionate care during this time. MARESH-MEREDITH AND ACKLAM FUNERAL HOME 803 MAIN ST.
