Robyn Christensen

FARMINGTON, N.M. - Robyn Mary Christensen, 63, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 27, 2010, after a long battle with a recurrent cancer that was initially diagnosed in 2007. Robyn was born in Racine, attended Washington Park High School and continued on to the first of several higher education degrees at St. Olaf College, where she got her BA in Secondary Education, majored in Physical Education and minored in French. She taught in Bakersfield, Calif. and Davenport, Iowa. In between, she attended the University of Oregon at Eugene and earned a MA in Education with a specialty in anatomy. Robyn later returned to school, yet again, and earned degrees in both Cardiovascular Rehab and Respiratory and Massage Therapy. She then went on to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in Farmington, N.M. for 20 years, prior to retiring in 2009, where she will be missed by her many friends. Robyn's interests included camping, golfing, and traveling in her adopted home, Farmington, N.M. She was a consummate student and continued to study and teach anatomy and massage. Robyn had a passion for teaching her entire life and always found a way to express it. She is survived by a brother, Alan R. Christensen (wife, Janice); and nephew, Scott A. Christensen (wife, Jessica) and their children, Alexander and Benjamin, all of Phoenix, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. and Virginia M. Christensen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Valley or the American Cancer Society .
