Catherine "Kitty" Boone (Wright)

Catherine Kitty Boone (Wright)

I have been unable to locate an obituary for Kitty, but I am reasonably certain that this information is correct.  Born Catherine J Boone on May, 17, 1947, "Kitty" as we knew her attended Park with us but left her Senior Year I believe.  Her last know address was in Elgin, IL and she was 59 when she passed on March 27, 2007.

We really had some good times in high school even after Kitty move to Elgin.  Upon graduating Kitty and I took off and traveled route 66 to California.  We pooled our graduation and savings.  My dad let us take his brand new 1966 mercury as my 1953 yellow chevy belair would not make the trip.  We stayed in $5 to $15  a day motels, gas was anywhere from $.15 to $.35 a gallon.  We had car trouble in Albuquerque New Mexico.  AAA towed  the car to the mercury dealer on a Sunday.  We slept in the car that night waiting for the dealership to open on Monday.  Thank god it was under warranty and I had AAA.  Fixed we continued on. We stopped at many famous places long the way in MO, OK, TX we ate at some really famous Steak house with a bucking horse.  Thet had famous country bands.  Kitty "tried" to ride that horse.  Really funny.  In NM we rented horses for two day camping trip into the mountians.  We did not know about rattle snakes back then.  In CA we visited Universal Studio, Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farms and more.  I have never been back to these places but remember them vividly.  In Reno we walked into several casino's, our first real expire drinking & gambling, Thats when anyone gambling was given free drinks.  I played blackjack, I won  ( big money to me as it was as much as I took on the trip), Kitty played slots, somehow she got carded. I think she asked for some special kind of mixed drink.  We were only 18 and you had to be 21 to drink & gamble. She was escorted out.  Off we went to see the top of the Rockies and Mt Rushmore then home.

Can not remember that last reunion we attended togethher but I remember you came up from Elgin to attend one that I did not attend. You called me and wanted to meet, but I was busy.  That was the last time we talked, oh how long ago, and now my friend I miss not being able to meet and talk again.    I did not know you passed..
