Steve Heisa

Steven W. Heisa, 62, passed away suddenly at All Saints Hospital on Wednesday, July 8, 2009. He was born in Racine on March 26, 1947, son of the late Glen and Lucile (nee: Grutt) Heisa. As a child Steve contracted polio causing life-long pain with his back and legs. However, he never let this be an excuse and he worked everyday of his life, a work ethic that he passed down to his children. When he was a young man, Steve moved to California where he worked for over 25 years as a Sales Manager. He returned to Racine in 1994, and worked several years at West Lawn Memorial Park. In the latter years, while on social security, he couldn't stand not working so he found a part-time job at a car auction, a job which he greatly enjoyed. Steve was a very social person who enjoyed being around people and made friends easily. He didn't like confrontation and preferred to let the 'little things slide.' In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, watching TV, sports, hanging out with friends, and playing cards. On his birthday one year he finally hit the Royal Flush. Steve became very fond of the internet as it allowed him to maintain a connection to those children and friends who lived in other states. Steve loved a good joke and he loved to laugh. Steve will be profoundly missed by his children, Lisa (Robert) Burns of Rohnert Park, Calif., Steve (Keri) Heisa, Jr. of Orem, Utah, Bill Heisa, and Krystal (Sean) O'Brien both of Racine; grandchildren, Makelle, Brionna, Weston, and Cole.
