Jeff and I crossed paths fairly recently during our teens.  His father, Thor, owned a gas station right next to my father's Thrifty Mac's Ace Hardware on Lathrop Avenue, and it was there we always bought gas.  Likewise, they always bought their hardware from my father.  Jeff was easygoing and always had a smile on his face.  I'm quite sure he took over the gas station, at one point.

I would go into his father's service station once- in- awhile during HS. We couldn't hang there and talk cars, so we spent our time at Floyd's. Jeff's father was the district alderman for years and even ran for mayor against Bill Beyer in the early 1960's. Jeff was a good guy. I had no contact with him until after the military and while I was going to college. My family ran a business and we used U-Haul Trucks and rented them at Lieungh's. I would see Jeff three or for times a year at the gas station. Jeff wanted to be a Veterinarian. I believe he went to college for a couple of years. He got married  and went to work for his father. He still talked about being a vet. Jeff left the business and went to work for Granger's in Gurnee, IL as a Product Specialist. He eventually worked is way up to Warehouse Manager when Granger opened a location in Racine. I used to have to track parts orders for my job, so that was the only contact I had with Jeff. I believe he relocated back to IL with Granger and I lost track of him.

Jeff had a younger brother Dale who stayed in the business on Lathrop and also ran a service garage on North Main Street. Dale lives in Kenosha and still has interest in the business on Lathrop.

I was suprised to hear that Jeff had passed away some years ago.  Don Sokolowski and I were just talking about Jeff recently.  Don and Jeff were neighborhood pals from early on and I knew Jeff since grade school at Mitchell.  I believe it was our 6th grade class that went on a field trip to Jeff's house to see all his fish aquariums.  Jeff became a close friend later on when we started driving. I actually learned to drive a stick shift that summer when Jeff threw me the keys to his '53 Chevy Biscayne one day and said "have at it".  We hung out at his dad's service station on Lathrop often when Thor wasn't around.  Jeff was a good kid and alot of fun but became a bit more wild in our later teens.  One early Fall morning while in high school that '53 Chevy skidded off a Kenosha County road near Brass Ball Corners and rolled end over end a number of times before coming to rest down in the ditch.  Jeff was driving, I was riding "shot gun" and Don was in the back seat.  Miraculously all three of us suffered only a few bumps and bruises.  Talk about getting the c--p scarred out of you! We were going on a pheasant hunting trip that morning when the accident happened. I lost track of Jeff when we eventually all went into the Service after high school.  A few years later we hooked up at Loui's Chateau in downtown Racine where he was tending bar and the fun began once again. In '69 when Jeff got married Don and I were in his wedding.  When I went off to college in '71 we lost contact with each other and I never saw or heard from him after that. I'd found out sometime later that he had moved to Chicago.  I considered Jeff a good friend back when we were young and He and Don and I had some good times together. I'm saddened now to hear that he is gone.  Mike Holland

Jeff and I lived 1 house apart on Jerome Blvd,we went to school together from Kindergarten  through Park.We hung out alot,Jeff, Mike Holland and myself, At the gas station,Union Grove Drag Strip and most notably was at Sailors Pool Hall on Washington Ave. "Sailor" was Jeff's uncle he was quite the character and we had a million laughs and a good education was gotten in the pool hall. After Park we all went in the Army and all served in VietNam pretty much at the same time. After the Army we all got together again until we went separate ways getting married, divorced or what ever. I didn't know Jeff passed away until I saw it on the Reunion home page and was sorry I didn't get to pay my last respects. Jeff was a good friend and the memories will last a long time.

This was sent via an old friend of Jeff’s.

I had the pleasure of working with Jeff in the brokerage business in Chicago in the 1990s. Great guy and would give you the shirt off his back . For some odd reason I googled his name today possibly because I was on my boat in The Chain of Lakes in Illinois and recalled him diving off the boat in Pistake Bay many years ago. Sorry to hear of his passing..  Jim Cox
