Steven was a Navy Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class and served with H&S Company, 3rd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. He arrived in Vietnam on November 15, 1967 and was KIA 5-1/2 months later on May 1, 1968 by small arms fire. The VirtualWall record indicates he died outright and his body was recovered and returned to the USA for burial.
Thanks Pete for the info on Steve Layton. After Kathy posted that fact about him on the cover page, Artie and I looked up his profile and saw your post, 8 years later, but still we saw it. The name escaped us but as soon as we saw his picture, we both remembered who he was so thanks again.
