Bonnie was welcomed to Heaven on October 12, 2012. Born in Racine, Wisconsin, to Richard and Gwen Gruner on December 31, 1946. Preceded in death by her parents and survived by her sister, Sally Attwood of Milwaukee. Also survived by many friends including the very special, Tracy Snyder and Joanne Zimmerman.A 1969 graduate of Carroll University, Bonnie taught French and English at Horace Mann High School in North Fond du Lac for 28 years. She received great joy from remaining close to many of her students after retirement. Bonnie was a lover of all things French and felt very fortunate to have visited Paris many summers.Family and friends thank St. Agnes Hospital, Hospice Hope and ManorCare for the excellent care Bonnie received following a stroke in early October.

Until the year of Bonnie's death, she and I had been friends since grade school at N.D. Fratt.  We both attended First Methodist Church in Racine, but didn't really begin to socialize together until high school.  After graduation, we both went on to become foreign language teachers.  Bonnie taught French in Fond du Lac, and I taught Spanish in Manitowoc, so every now and then we would meet halfway in Chilton, Wisconsin for lunch.  She never missed calling me each year to wish me a happy birthday, and I did the same for hers on New Year's Eve.  I miss those calls so much!  Another thing I will never forget about Bonnie is that she collected owls of every shape and form.  Bonnie was one of those lifelong friends that are so rare in our lives.
