Bob Cook, along with John Osadsky, died in an auto accident near Winona, Mississippi on August 4, 1966.  They were traveling home from a Florida trip with hopes of reaching Racine in time to enroll at RTI (now Gateway Tech).   Investigators said I-55 road construction with re-routed lanes contributed to the crash.

Whatever the reasons for the accident, John and Bob died without getting to experience another 50 years like the rest of us have.  19 years old... just kids, really.   Good boys who left too soon, and good friends who won’t be forgotten.

"Cook and Osadsky" --- a couple of guys who lived on the edge sort of like James Dean. We did some hard partying back in the day and I was saddened to hear the news of their way too young departure. Much like Ove Larson's death these events shaped an awareness that we wern't bullet proof and that disaster could strike in seconds to end or change life. By way of Racine news and, more to the point, our great web site I have been surprised and humbled at the passing of so many of our classmates, many of whom I expected to see next August. In that regard we can and will rejoice in our reunion while thinking about those who have left us.  DP

Lilly Cook – Hi, I’m Lilly a da balley, she used to say thru her young tooth-less smile.  It’s nice to know that this forum has again brought a smile to her face as she learns that Bob and John were good friends to many of us and are deeply missed.

I dated Bob, called him Cooker Booker. After he broke his back in the accident that killed Ove Larson, he wanted to break it off.  We had a lot of fun for awhile. Lynda Zamagni Long
